Several scattered thunderstorms made their way across north Georgia and metro Atlanta late in the day Thursday.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for Barrow, Jasper, Newton and Rockdale counties until 10 p.m.

According to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton, all of metro Atlanta is at a slight risk for thunderstorms throughout the day. The main concerns are high winds, frequent lightening and small-sized hail.

Minton said most of the severe weather will have moved out by around 6 p.m. an Another round of isolated showers is possible later in the evening.

“It looks like the strongest storms as of 4 p.m. will be near the South Carolina state line,” said Channel 2 meteorologist Glenn Burns.
