Friday’s storms knocked down trees and power lines in DeKalb County, and more rain appears to be on the way to the metro Atlanta area this weekend.
A severe thunderstorm warning issued for Fulton and Forsyth counties by the National Weather Service expired at 9:45 p.m. Friday.
Scattered storms earlier in the evening knocked out power and toppled trees in several areas, particularly Dunwoody. A tree fell on a home in the 4500 block of Sharon Valley Court in Dunwoody, police said. No injuries were reported.
Saturday also looks to be a rainy day with an 80 percent chance of showers, Channel 2 Action News said.
But expect the weekend to end on an up note with mostly sunny skies Sunday.
At least it looks like there will be relief from the heat. Temperatures will reach “only” the mid-80s each day, with morning lows around 72 Saturday and 65 Sunday, Channel 2 said.
