Today is a good day to stay indoors, but the gloomy weather won’t last for long.

There is a 100 percent chance of rain today and the high temperature will reach only 69 degrees, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said. The average high this time of year is 80, he said.

Most of the morning storms are along and north of I-20. There is a severe weather risk to the south of metro Atlanta. Damaging winds, heavy rain and hail are possible, Nitz said.

Then sunshine will return for the workweek.

“It’s going to feel like summer by the end of this week,” Nitz said.

Monday’s high will reach 76. For Tuesday and Wednesday, highs will be in the 80s, with lows in the 60s. By Thursday, highs are expected to reach 90.

But first, deal with a cool and rainy Sunday.
