With the first official day of spring seven days away, Thursday morning will feel more like winter.

A freeze warning has been issued for portions of north and central Georgia, including the metro Atlanta area, from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service said. Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.

It is expected to be a generally sunny day, but with a chilly start, Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

Highs are expected to be in the low 50s, about 13 degrees below the normal high for mid-March.

The bulk of the rain that moved into metro Atlanta overnight Wednesday moved out before daybreak, but winds were high Wednesday. There were several reports of downed trees in the metro Atlanta area, but no injuries were reported. A wind advisory, in effect through 2 a.m. Thursday, is calling for winds gusting to 40 mph.

The sunny skies will continue Friday, but there’s a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday and 80 percent Sunday.

Highs will be in the mid-60s Friday through Sunday, with morning lows in the mid-30s Friday and mid-40s Saturday and Sunday.
