Even if you’re liking this week’s sweltering heat, you probably aren’t much for what comes with it: smog.

High temperatures and bad air will both be around the area Wednesday.

A 'Code Orange' smog alert has been issued for Atlanta. That means the air could be unhealthy for people in sensitive groups: children, older adults and people with heart or lung conditions like asthma.

Smog alerts are color coded based on the Air Quality Index, which measures the concentration of pollutants.

This is the first smog alert of 2015.

Wednesday afternoon temperatures will again soar into the mid-90s, and Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said it will feel like 105 degrees in some places.

Anyone who’s outside and not feeling well should “get out of the heat,” she said.

Minton said the hot weather is not going away anytime soon. High temperatures are expected to continue in the 90s through the weekend with little chance of rain.

To help combat the heat, the city of Atlanta plans to open three cooling stations Wednesday morning. They'll be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also, 11 city pools will be open and free to all. The Atlanta fire department will also be offering free bottled water at all of its fire stations.
