If you see your favorite Atlanta United player at a Chick-fil-A this month, you’re not hallucinating from a lack of Polynesian sauce.

Players will be appearing at eateries throughout metro Atlanta in August as part of the restaurant chain’s sponsorship of the team during its inaugural season.

“We do a lot in stadium and at the game, but we wanted to bring the game into the restaurant,” said Kara Leland, a spokesman at the public relations firm that put the campaign together.

The events are billed as family nights, and each restaurant determines how they will use their time with the player.

For instance, when Julian Gressel visits a Marietta store on Aug. 31, he and members of the state-champion Harrison High School girls soccer team will run soccer drills for folks, a spokeswoman for the location said.
