Atlanta school buses to arrive closer to start of school day

Atlanta elementary school buses will arrive closer to when classes start each day after parents complained that their students would be dropped off nearly an hour early.

The city school district has changed its bus schedules so that most buses will get to school at 7:20 a.m. before school starts at 8 a.m. The previous schedule called for students to be dropped off at 7:10 a.m.

School buses also are no longer scheduled to pick up students as early as 5:45 a.m., with pickup times modified to around 6:30 a.m. for many students.

Atlanta Public Schools wrote in a memo distributed Friday that the previous bus routes with earlier times “were posted in error.”
