Atlanta neighborhood deals with 6-foot snake

A large snake has become the talk of a southeast Atlanta neighborhood — by its sighting, and by its absence.

Residents on Lamon Avenue and Monument Avenue have spotted a snake that’s 5 to 6 feet long under a porch of one of the houses and behind another house, Channel 2 Action News reported. Many think it’s either a python or boa constrictor.

And someone has been going door to door recently in the area asking about the snake, Channel 2 reported. Neighbors think it likely was the snake’s owner, but neither he nor the snake has been seen since.

Channel 2 contacted Fulton County Animal Services and the organization said no one had called to report the snake sighting.

And what if the snake turns up again? Resident Betty Barnes is not sure.

“I don’t know. I’m not gonna do too much, because I’m scared,” she told Channel 2. “I’ll stay in the house.”
