The City of Atlanta’s Department of Corrections is commemorating National Correctional Officers and Employees Week through May 5.
The celebration honors the contributions of officers and workers in jails, prisons, and community corrections across the U.S.
In Atlanta, the city said the week’s events include a memorial prayer service in honor of fallen officers, a retirees’ luncheon, health fair, softball tournament, raffles, prizes, and cookout. Department of Corrections chief Patrick Labat will also present the 2017 Correctional Officer of the Year award and other employee awards.
