The snow that blanketed Atlanta last week left the city with 183 pending pothole requests, a spokeswoman said.

Snow and ice can cause potholes due to the rapid freeze-thaw-refreeze cycle the asphalt experiences. In Cobb, road crews are also battling more than 100 potholes after the cold weather.

Atlanta city officials expect it will take about two weeks to fix the holes. Repairs started Monday.

Repair costs for one pothole is typically around $66.36, according to the spokeswoman. That means the damage could potentially cost around $12,143.

Residents can report potholes through the city's non-emergency call center, ATL311, by dialing 3-1-1. The service recently extended its hours of operation later into the evening.
