Atlanta expanding public bicycle share program
The City of Atlanta is expanding Relay, its public bicycle share program, which launched in June. By the end of the year, 12 new bike stations will be in downtown and midtown Atlanta:
- Piedmont and Auburn avenues
- Marietta and Forsyth streets
- Centennial Olympic Park at Park Avenue
- Peachtree Center Avenue and International Boulevard
- Civic Center MARTA Station
- North Avenue MARTA Station
- Bobby Dobb
- Tech Square
- Midtown MARTA Station
- 10th and Myrtle streets
- 11th Street and Crescent Avenue
- Piedmont Park at 14th Street Station in Midtown Atlanta
“Launching the next phase of bike stations is exciting news, and signifies that the city of Atlanta and our partners are committed to making cycling an integral part of Atlanta’s transportation system,” said Mayor Kasim Reed in a press release. “The Relay program will offer 500 bikes at more than 50 stations citywide and allow for first-and-last-mile connectivity from MARTA stations and business and shopping districts.”
Bike share company CycleHop operates Relay, which currently has 100 bikes available for short-term rent at ten stations downtown.
Westside Atlanta neighborhoods will be the next to receive bike stations, said city officials.
