The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is looking for new guides to join its popular Atlanta BeltLine Bike Tour program, according to a press release.

It currently offers free, 10-mile, 3-hour tours of the Eastside and Westside Trails on alternating Saturday mornings starting at 9 a.m. With the anticipated opening of the Southside Trail (as interim trail) in the spring of 2019 the organization expects to add even more tours to the program. Tours are capped at 25 participants and typically get 15-20 participants for each tour. The season runs from March/April through November.

Tour guides play one of two roles on each tour. One guide leads the tour and shares information with tour goers about the past, present and future of the BeltLine and the neighborhoods it passes through at predetermined stops along the way. The second guide serves as a “sweep,” trailing behind the group to make sure no one strays or falls behind. Guides also serve as Atlanta BeltLine good-will ambassadors to the public.

Training consists of taking an official Atlanta BeltLine bus tour, a few hours of classroom training on tour content and at-home studying of the course route and tour “playbook.” After basic training guides shadow an experienced guide as they lead a tour, then lead a tour of their own with an experienced guide shadowing them.

Tour guides are asked to commit to leading or sweeping at least one tour per month (or more) during tour season. Tour guides are paid $10/hr. during training and $15/hr. once trained, and receive an official Atlanta BeltLine Bike Tour Guide t-shirt.

Candidates should be 18 or over, in good health and have an interest in cycling and the Atlanta BeltLine.

Interested candidates should send an email with qualifications to john@atlblp.org no later than Jan. 15.
