Police said Tuesday they have arrested a man who broke into a Clarkston apartment complex and raped a woman and her daughter.
Police would not identify the attacker by name but said he is a 20-year-old refugee from Rwanda. Police believe he may be linked to other crimes in the area, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The 40-year-old woman and her 15-year old daughter, both refugees from Somalia, were sexually assaulted in their apartment around 1 a.m. Monday at a building on Montreal Street.
The man first assaulted the daughter; then, as her mother was being raped, the daughter escaped through a second story bedroom window and call 911, police told Channel 2.
Both victims were taken to the hospital, according to Clarkston City Manager Keith Barker. As they were returning home Monday afternoon, Barker said, they spotted their attacker on the front porch of a nearby apartment.
