Snellville’s Downtown Development Authority has earned the Atlanta Regional Commission Community Choices Award, giving the city the research power of the ARC to investigate and report on best practices in public-private partnerships. The DDA will utilize this information to determine the best use of the city-owned and currently vacant Wisteria Drive property, as it encourages the larger implementation of The Towne Center plan.
The DDA was awarded $15,000 for a Pop-up Market on May 16 at the Wisteria Drive property across from the Snellville Police Department. The Wisteria Pop-up Marketplace will be a one-day event featuring local entrepreneurs in an effort to draw attention to the location and promote The Towne Center vision.
The research project on public-private partnerships is slated to begin in May using graduate summer interns currently studying city planning or a related field.
