Amerigroup Community Care, a Georgia provider of Medicaid managed care benefits, has launched its Repack the Backpack initiative. During this effort, Amerigroup is sponsoring events across the state to distribute thousands of free school supplies, including notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, binders, paper and other essential items, according to a press release. In addition to the free school supplies, children and families who attend the events can receive free health information and enjoy refreshments and entertainment.

· Decatur – Saturday, Jan. 4: Exchange Park Recreation Center, 2771 Columbia Drive; Noon – 4 p.m.
· Columbus – Thursday, Jan. 9: Columbus Civic Center Ice Rink, 400 4th St; 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
· Savannah – Thursday, Jan. 16: Otis Brock Elementary School, 1804 Stratford Street, 509 S Fry St.; 5 – 7 p.m.
· Gainesville – Friday, Jan. 24: Lyman Hall Elementary School, 2150 Memorial Park Drive; 5 – 7 p.m.
· Albany – Saturday, Jan. 25: Boys and Girls Club, 210 Thornton Drive; 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
· Waynesboro – Saturday, Jan. 25: Citizens Park Gym, 102 Hwy 24 South’ 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Amerigroup’s Repack the Backpack initiative was created to help families replenish necessary school supplies during the second semester of the school season, so children can stay focused on academic success without the anxiety of having to ration or go without resources.
