The Alpharetta City Council has accepted a $560,895 proposal from its on-call landscaping contractor for improvements to the Rucker Road roundabouts and other areas affected by recent road construction.

Ruppert Landscape will install soil, trees, shrubs and groundcovers at two new roundabouts on Rucker at Dennis Drive/Fairfax Drive and at Charlotte Drive, according to a staff report to the council.

The landscaper’s proposal “also includes installation of trees, shrubs, groundcovers and hardscape elements as needed for re-establishing the frontage areas of Northfield subdivision and several other communities impacted by the roadway improvements,” staff said.

The Department of Public Works prepared the landscape plans, specifying that plant materials must comply with American National Standards Institute guidelines and come with a two-year warranty and watering to establish the plants, staff said. To minimize long-term maintenance costs, no turf is proposed in the roundabout designs.
