The city of Alpharetta has scheduled a series of public hearings on its proposed FY 2016 budget and millage rate. The hearings are set for: 7:30 p.m. June 1, 6:30 p.m. June 8 and 7:30 p.m. June 15. All will be in the council chambers at Alpharetta City Hall, 2 Park Plaza.

The 2016 proposal calls for a total budget of $89. 9 million, with $63.4 million of that in the general fund. The budget is based on maintaining the current millage rate of 5.750, as the property tax digest is expected to grow by 2 percent.

General fund operating expenses are up 3.5 percent from the current fiscal year, due in part to City Center project full-year maintenance and operating costs. That includes the new city hall, parking garage, park and town green.

City officials said the budget also includes $10.1 million in capital investment, including such infrastructure projects as milling and resurfacing city streets and storm water and traffic signal maintenance.
