A community forum on the value of locally grown foods is set for Wednesday, Feb. 27, involving Alpharetta, the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Food Well Alliance.

The event is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. in the Alpharetta City Hall Community Meeting Room, 2 Park Plaza. The effort, officials said, is part of a pilot project to create city-wide plans across the five-county metro region that incorporate agriculture in their development plans. “In a time of rapid redevelopment in metro Atlanta, the pressure on urban farms and community gardens has increased dramatically,” event organizers said.

Residents will hear from urban farmers and food experts about the value of community gardens and farms to Alpharetta as it continues growing and developing, officials said.
