The city councils of Alpharetta and Roswell have signed off on an intergovernmental project agreement for Rucker Road.

The two cities are creating a continuous corridor of new sidewalks, turn lanes, bike lanes, roundabouts and other improvements on Rucker from Wills Road in Alpharetta to Houze Road in Roswell. The agreement says it seeks to minimize travel disruption and provide efficient and cost-effective services to residents.

Under the agreement, Roswell will provide final construction plans to Alpharetta; acquire all necessary permits, easements and rights of way, and be responsible for construction inspection services and utility relocation costs in Roswell, an Alpharetta staff report says.

Alpharetta will obtain a change order fee from the city’s contractor on the Rucker project, based on the construction plans provided by Roswell; modify the total contract amount to the contractor once the proposal has been reviewed and approved by Roswell staff, and invoice Roswell for 100 percent of the construction costs inside that city’s limits.

Roswell will fund its share of the work with revenues from the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by voters in November 2016. Alpharetta will use proceeds from a May 2016 bond referendum.
