Two cities in north Fulton County are delaying trash collection services as Tropical Storm Irma passes through Georgia.

Alpharetta has pushed its normal collection schedule back by two days, while Roswell has suspended pickup until “further notice.”

Roswell says it is attempting to "minimize the potential for injury or damage due to flying debris in high wind conditions" by suspending the services. The city says residents should not leave any materials by the curb until further notice.

For Alpharetta, those who have their garbage picked up on Mondays will have it picked up on Wednesday. For Tuesday residents, their trash will be picked up on Thursday. Wednesday pickups will occur on Friday, and the normal service days for Thursday and Friday residents will be picked up on Saturday.

Alpharetta says all items should be at the curb by 7 a.m. on these new pickup days. The city adds that yard waste collection may not resume until next week.
