The Alpharetta City Council has approved a consultant’s $640,115 proposal to prepare costing plans for proposed improvements to Old Milton Parkway.
AECOM’s tasks will include a topographic and property survey, pavement evaluation, environmental permitting and designing the roadway, traffic, landscaping, lighting and bridges, according to a staff report to the council.
The work is intended to determine the project footprint and accurate construction and right-of-way cost estimates, staff said. The product will be more “basic” than a typical plan set issued for construction. It is to be completed within nine months after the notice to proceed.
The project will be paid for by the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by Fulton County voters in November 2016.
According to the Fulton TSPLOST project list, Old Milton (Ga. 120) is to be widened to six lanes from four from Ga. 400 to State Bridge Road, a distance of 2.5 miles. The total capital cost of the project was estimated in 2016 as $28 million.
