The Alpharetta City Council has awarded a $185,250 contract to improve the downtown intersection of Park Plaza and Academy Street.

GTG Traffic Signals submitted the lowest of three bids for the project, which calls for upgrading the signals from temporary to permanent, installing decorative mast arm poles that have already been purchased by the city, and upgrading accessibility ramps for pedestrian crossings, according to a staff report to the council.

Alpharetta Public Works staff worked with engineering consultant Pond & Co. to prepare plans the project. The poles are to be delivered March 8. GTG will begin work after the contracts are executed and the poles are delivered, and it is expected to complete the project within 30 days of starting, staff said.
