Alpharetta officials to pitch TSPLOST measure at weekend town hall

The presidential election concludes soon, but Alpharetta officials want to make certain voters do not forget about a sales tax measure they say could fix a series of transportation problems across north Fulton.

The city will host a town hall discussion Saturday on Fulton County's TSPLOST ballot measure. Officials held a similar town hall earlier this month pitching to residents what Alpharetta gains by voting yes on Nov. 8 — not to mention, eliminate confusion on other area TSPLOST measures. 

If the three-fourths of a penny sales tax is approved, Fulton County's cities — not including Atlanta — could receive up to $600 million in transportation funds over a five-year period.

Alpharetta's share could be $62.7 million. Close to $32 million of that would go to projects aimed at reducing congestion and moving commuter traffic away from residential areas, according to the city.

The city's wish list includes fixes along high traffic areas like Old Milton Parkway and Haynes Bridge and McGinnis Ferry roads.

The town hall starts at 8 a.m. at City hall located on Park Plaza.
