Alpharetta city officials have announced more than 62 participating restaurants, activities and other news for the 29th annual edition of the Taste of Alpharetta.

The Taste, 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 2, is expected to attract more than 35,000 people to Milton Avenue and Roswell, Old Roswell, Canton and Old Canton streets in downtown Alpharetta.

Besides food samples, the event will offer a culinary competition, with local chefs giving cooking demonstrations; live music on three stages; a family Fun Zone, and new this year, a beer garden and a “Locally Grown” area with food-focused community organizations offering educational activities.

Admission is free, and food and activity tickets will be sold 10 for $5. Tickets can be redeemed for tastes costing 50 cents to $4 per sample, and in the Locally Grown and Fun Zone areas. At the end of the event, restaurants will have the option of donating leftovers to Second Helpings Atlanta to feed those in need.
