Alpharetta cancels city election

The city of Alpharetta has canceled its municipal election which had been set for Nov. 3.

That’s because no opposition surfaced to the single candidates who filed for mayor, and in the Post 4, 5 and 6 city council races. For mayor, only incumbent David Belle Isle filed. Other qualifiers were: in Post 4 Jim Gilvin, in Post 5 Jason Binder and in Post 6 Dan Merkel. Belle Isle and Gilvin are incumbents.

Under provisions of Georgia law, each of the unopposed candidates will have been deemed to vote for his/herself and the election is off.
