The Alpharetta City Council has approved spending more than $1 million to construct about 3,300 linear feet of an eight-foot-wide sidewalk along the south side of Morrison Parkway from Hembree to Haynes Bridge roads.

The council awarded a $1 million construction contract to A1 Contracting LLC, which submitted the lowest of seven bids for the work; and allocated $30,000 for utility relocations, including moving one utility pole and two light poles.

Plans also call for installing a curb and gutter, storm drainage and retaining walls, according to a staff report to the council. Work is to begin immediately upon execution of the contract and be completed no more than 150 days from the notice to proceed.
