Bike sharing and beer drinking both played a role in this week’s Alpharetta City Council meeting.
The council Monday night approved establishment of a bike sharing program, awarding a $21,840 contract to Massachusetts-based Zagster Inc. to set up three initial bike stations along Big Creek Greenway. Each location will have space for eight adjustable bicycles which will be provided free of charge for the first few hours, then available for rental. The city will determine the fee schedule and get a percentage of what’s collected.
Officials said if the program works, additional bike stations could be set up.
The council also O.K.’d a revision to the city’s alcohol ordinance that will allow brewpubs to sell growlers to patrons to take home.
