Cobb County will give $232,498 in economic incentives to Empire Distributors/Core5 Logistics for a wholesale alcoholic beverage distribution center in South Cobb.

Also, this 70-acre property on Hartman Road near I-20 West in Austell will serve as the company headquarters for Empire, a wholesale beverage distributor, as a part of its 601,350 square-foot distribution center.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted 5-0 Sept. 25 to give these savings:

  • $5,000 building permit fee cap to Core5 instead of charging the company $195,660.
  • $1,000 capped annual business license fee to Empire for each of three years, beginning with the first year.

The project will create an estimated 513 permanent full-time jobs which exceeds the minimum number of 25 jobs required by 488 with annual salaries of $60,000 - 443 new jobs in the first year with an increase to 513 jobs within 10 years.

Also, the project’s economic impact is estimated to be $1.6 million during the 10-year incentive period which exceeds the minimum required amount of $500,000 by $1.1 million.

Core5 will be the developer of the project site and will receive the economic incentives, but Empire will buy the facility upon its completion.

Empire also will purchase new furniture, fixtures and equipment valued at $14 million.
