The site of a tragic accident scene is now adorned with love notes for Eli Holland.

Holland, 17, died after his friend lost control of his car and hit a tree, Channel 2 Action News reported. The car went a different direction and then hit a power pole along Vaughn Road in Newnan on Sunday.

“He was probably the most loving person, I’ve ever met in my entire life,” Holland’s friend, Wyatt Darnell, told the news station. “He never wronged anybody; he always kept his promise and he loved his family to death.”

Police told Channel 2 the incident may be alcohol related. No charges have been filed against the driver.

But even if alcohol wasn’t involved, Milt Boykin thinks Holland’s death could’ve been avoided if there had just been a sign up warning people about the curve near his house.

“I just hope they can do something about getting signs put up to let people know this is a dangerous curve,” Boykin told Channel 2, “because people come off the road here all the time.”

The sign could come sooner than Boykin thinks.

“We will look further into the situation on Vaughan Road for any possible safety enhancements,” Coweta County officials told Channel 2. “We expect to have information to present to the board of commissioners for their consideration at an upcoming meeting.”

Friends have flooded social media with #FLYHIGHELI to honor Holland. The family has raised more than 15,000 as of 10 p.m. on a GoFundMe page set up for Holland's funeral costs.
