A public hearing is scheduled for set for 6 p.m. Monday at Milton City Hall to reconsider a rezoning application that had been passed by the Milton City Council but then vetoed by Mayor Joe Lockwood, who cited citizen concerns about the way the matter was handled.

Brightwater Homes LLC wants to rezone 63.5 acres at 745 Ebenezer Road from agricultural to community unit plan in order to build 45 single-family homes at a density of .707 units per acre. The Council had approved the change April 25, but Lockwood vetoed it, and the Council failed to override the mayor’s veto.

The application returned to the City Council for further consideration. A first reading took place June 6.
