A conditional use request heard May 23 by the Henry County Zoning Advisory Board relating to a proposed outdoor adventure park was not approved, but the applicant has the opportunity to appeal to the Board of Commissioners.

The plan for the 141-acre property on Iris Lake Road between McDonough and Locust Grove calls for two separate zipline courses along with horse, climbing towers and other amusements. Also proposed are 20 lodging units consisting of cabins and treehouses. The applicant told the board that it would be operated by the same company that currently manages Historic Banning Mills in Whitesburg and the new development would be similar to that one.

A motion was made to deny the request until a traffic study is conducted, but that motion failed. No one made a motion to approve, and the discussion of the issue was closed.
