Acworth man dies of injuries from car wreck

A 71-year-old Acworth man injured in a Dec. 20 accident on Dallas Acworth Highway at Bridgemont Place has died, according to authorities.

Ronald L. Gibson died Friday of injuries he received in the wreck that occurred when Gibson, who was driving a blue 2005 Honda Element eastbound on Dallas Acworth Highway, crossed the double yellow line and struck a gray 2011 Chevrolet Silverado head on, which was traveling westbound on Dallas Acworth Highway, according to police.

The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Michael Travelstead, 39, of Acworth. He was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gibson was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

No charges are expected to be filed in this case, according to police.
