Recent activity at the Live Oak Landfill in south DeKalb County is the result of a new gas pipeline being installed.

A segment of a 28-mile replacement to an Atlanta Gas Light pipeline crosses the 195-acre landfill, which was closed in 2004.

The state Environmental Protection Division approved the work at the landfill, which could take a year to complete and will include restoring native plants disturbed by construction.
