Due to Chairman Eric Maxwell’s absence at its Feb. 8 meeting, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners tabled a decision about whether to proceed with any action regarding allegations of workplace misconduct at the 911 Communications Center.

However, former and current employees offered public comments for several hours, both supporting and refuting reports that director Bernard “Buster” Brown verbally abused employees. Human Resources Director Lewis Patterson told the board that “the atmosphere is great” at the center now but that commission meetings are “an improper forum” for discussing personnel issues.

The matter will be revisited at the Feb. 22 meeting.
