The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Aug. 21 regular meeting to authorize and update 911 charges on prepaid and postpaid wireless services within Henry County.

According to county 911 director Don Ash, prepaid wireless charges will be updated to $1.50 per call, like other phone services and providers in the state. 911 fees that are generated over voice-over and internet protocol phones will be collected as well. This update came after the Georgia General Assembly created the 911 Authority. The law regarding 911 charges has been “substantially modernized and revised,” according to a county staff report.

The new charges go into effect Jan. 1, 2019.
