The Atlanta Humane Society is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of the person responsible for severely injuring a 4-month-old Yorkie.

The case has left the organization “deeply saddened and sickened,” the humane society said in a news release Tuesday.

The puppy was brought to the Fulton County Animal Services shelter with severe chemical burns Monday morning, an official with LifeLine Animal Project said.

A man told the shelter that he found the dog wandering around his yard off of Mt. Zion Road in south Atlanta.

The puppy, named Mason, has received emergency burn treatment and is recovering at a north Fulton animal hospital, Channel 2 Action News reported. He has chemical burns to his eyes and over much of his body.

Dr. Chris Piscitelli, one of the veterinarians treating Mason, told Channel 2 that the puppy is in good spirits and is eating.

Several other dogs with similar burns have come into the shelter over the past year, according to authorities.

Anyone with information should call Fulton County Animal Services at 404-613-2163.
