Three Gwinnett County neighborhoods will get streetlights under measures approved by the Board of Commissioners Tuesday.

Commissioners agreed to allow subdivisions near Lilburn, Lawrenceville and Duluth to join the county’s streetlight system. In each case, a majority of homeowners voted to join the streetlight system.

The subdivisions are:

*Berkeley Creek South near Duluth. Homeowners will split the annual $552 electrical cost for four streetlights. Gwinnett County will pay $6,806 to Jackson EMC to install the lights.

*Bruxton Woods near Lilburn. Homeowners will split the annual $516 electrical cost for four streetlights, while Gwinnett will pay $2,000 to Walton EMC to install the lights.

*Planters Cove near Lawrenceville. Homeowners will split the $3,024 annual electrical cost, and the county will pay $27,142 to Georgia Power to install 22 streetlights.

The county will use money from a 2009 special sales tax for construction projects to pay its share. For more information on joining the county streetlight system, call 770-822-7400 or e-mail DOTCommunityRelations@gwinnettcounty.com.
