Three cities in Clayton County were recently recognized for their economic development alliance.

The Atlanta Regional Commission awarded Forest Park, Lake City and Morrow its 2016 CREATE Community Award for Regional Prosperity and Economic Development. The three cities formed the Tri-Cities Initiative two years ago to focus on redevelopment and economic growth. In that time, the initiative has collaborated on projects to develop areas around Fort Gillem, Southlake Mall and Clayton State University.

The Atlanta Regional Commission is a regional planning agency for 10 metro Atlanta counties, including Clayton.
