A program about economic development in the Ellenwood community and South DeKalb as a whole will be held Tuesday at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center.

The business empowerment summit, presented by the Atlanta Business League and Commissioner Larry Johnson in celebration of Black History Month, will include discussions about development opportunities and the history of African-American business in DeKalb.

“South DeKalb as a whole has many assets that have yet to be tapped into,” Johnson said. “It is time that we hone this potential while using the resources available to build a strong economic foundation for this community.”

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6:30 p.m. following a reception. It’s located at 3181 Rainbow Drive in Decatur.
