In a heated race that could decide the direction of DeKalb County's government, Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton is being challenged in a runoff Tuesday by Steve Bradshaw.

Sutton has been in office for eight years, and she says she’s fought hard against her political enemies to secure resources for her Stone Mountain-area district.

But Bradshaw, a business development manager, says Sutton is a source of divisiveness in county government. He says he’d be independent while working to build consensus with fellow commissioners.
