A group of Roswell residents is lobbying city officials to buy what it says is the city’s last big stand of old growth trees.

The group – the Seven Branches Legacy Project – wants the city to buy the 53 acres south of Holcomb Bridge Road between Eves Road and Martin Landing Drive. The group wants the land used for a park.

As of Thursday, the group had collected more than 1,700 signatures on an online petition urging the city to buy the property.
