Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp is ordering a recount of former Rep. Tonya Anderson's 10-vote victory over Rep. Dee Dawkins-Haigler in last month's Democratic runoff election for a state Senate seat.

Anderson led Dawkins-Haigler by 0.12 percentage points, with 4,276 votes compared to Dawkins-Haigler's 4,266 votes, according to official election results.

The recount will be conducted Thursday by elections offices in DeKalb, Rockdale and Newton counties.

If Anderson's slim margin of victory holds up, she would face Republican Sen. JaNice Van Ness in November's general election for Senate District 43.
