A citizen panel that will recommend DeKalb County road repaving projects and other infrastructure improvements is meeting for the first time Wednesday.

The group will hold public meetings over the next few months before creating a list of projects that could be funded by a proposed 1 percent sales tax.

The special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) is planned to appear on the November ballot. If approved, DeKalb's sales tax rate would increase to 8 percent.

The DeKalb SPLOST Citizen Review Committee was appointed by Interim DeKalb CEO Lee May and the DeKalb Commission.
