Henry creates anti-gang unit to combat growing gang problem

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has created a new unit to fight growing gang activity in the county.

The Gang Suppression Unit is in response to the larger presence of gangs in the county jail, schools and community , Sheriff Keith McBrayer said. McBrayer noted that Henry has seen an increase in gang activity in the past few months.

The new gang unit will investigate gang activity and work with prosecutors to impose longer prison sentences. Gang activity in Henry County is being tracked via a database used by the sheriff’s office and other agencies in Henry and statewide.
