Henry County has a new county manager.
Lyndon L. Bonner comes from North Miami Beach where he managed 422 employees and a $111 million budget. The Ocala, Fla. native has more than 20 years of government administration experience, serving as city manager and county administrator in rural communities as well as big cities.
“I’m excited about Henry County and the opportunity to lead a great team of employees,” said Bonner who starts immediately. “I look forward to serving the Henry community and turning possibilities into realities.”
Bonner had initially dropped out of the running for the job a couple of weeks ago when the county announced it would proceed more slowly in selecting a replacement for Jim Walker who resigned in May just as the county was set to investigate allegations that he had sexually harassed a female employee.
Cheri Hobson-Matthews, a 13-year employee with the county, served as interim county manager and was a finalist for the job which drew 27 candidates.
Bonner has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Florida and a Master’s of Business Administration from Webster University in Missouri.
