Alan Chapman, who has been Gwinnett County’s acting transportation director since October, will take on the position permanently.
County commissioners will vote Tuesday to ratify his employment agreement. Chapman will make $140,000 a year and receive a $160 bi-weekly car allowance as part of his contract.
County Administrator Glenn Stephens, who appointed Chapman, said in a statement that Chapman’s passion and knowledge of the community “make him the ideal person to lead the department.”
Chapman has worked for the county since 1997. Prior to that, he worked for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Commission chairman Charlotte Nash said in a statement that Chapman “has proven himself to be a great leader for the department.”
“I am excited for the future of the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation,” she said.
