Fulton County commissioners voted Wednesday to hire the vice president of the Atlanta BeltLine as their new county attorney.

Patrise Perkins-Hooker, who has also served at the BeltLine's general counsel for the past six years, will make $240,000 a year. She will start Jan. 14.

Last month, Perkins-Hooker was named as the only finalist for the post. The vote to hire her was unanimous.

In a statement, Fulton County Chairman John Eaves said Perkins-Hooker’s experience with the BeltLine and her other experience demonstrates a “unique understanding of many of the legal issues facing Fulton County.”

Perkins-Hooker is the immediate past president of the State Bar of Georgia.
