Fulton County will send property tax bills by Nov. 15

Fulton County received permission from a judge Friday to send tax bills to residents, months after they would normally be sent.

The delay has caused cash-flow issues for school systems and local governments, which said they might have to furlough or terminate employees if tax money didn't come in by the end of the year.

Tax bills will be sent by Nov. 15, and will be due by Dec. 31 for Atlanta residents. In the rest of Fulton County, bills will be due Jan. 15.

The judge's decision comes after the state Department of Revenue rejected the county's tax digest, saying county commissioners' move to freeze most residential properties at 2016 levels in response to skyrocketing property values was "questionable."
