The search for a new Fulton County inched forward Wednesday when the Board of Commissioners hired a search firm.

Commissioners voted unanimously to pay Florida-based Colin Baenziger & Associates $12,600 for executive search services until the county manager’s job is filled. The small amount of the contract suggests the search to replace Dwight Ferrell won’t take long.

Commissioners fired Ferrell in October amid complaints from employees that he was unresponsive to their concerns. He held the job only a year; commissioners hired him after an nine-month search. Ferrell recently landed a job running Cincinnati's transit agency.
