The Gwinnett County Planning Commission in September will hear a proposal for a 60,000-square-foot substance abuse treatment facility between Lawrenceville and Grayson.
According to documents submitted to the county, Fresh Start Foundations plans to build the residential treatment facility on 61 acres at 1680 Chandler Road. The facility would provide counseling, therapy and “a supportive, alcohol and drug-free environment in a community setting for individuals in a substance addiction recovery program,” according to a letter submitted by the foundation.
The property is currently zoned residential, though the foundation has asked for an office zoning to accommodate the treatment facility.
“The property is an appropriate location for the proposed treatment facility and would have little to no impact on any surrounding properties or to the citizens in nearby or surrounding areas,” Fresh Start Foundations President Chad Millsaps wrote to the county.
The proposal is one of several included in the planning commission’s Sept. 6 agenda. Explore the map below for information about other potential projects.
